“Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015” on display at Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center
Exhibit runs Nov. 9 to 20, 2015
DENVER – Marking the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, a charter sealed by King John of England that is recognized as the foundation of the rule of law in modern democracies, the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Law and the Library of Congress and its Law Library have set Denver as the next stop on a 21-city tour for a travelling exhibition about the Magna Carta.
The Colorado Supreme Court and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law have teamed up to host “Magna Carta: Enduring Legacy 1215-2015,” from Nov. 9-20, 2015 in the Supreme Court Courtroom at the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center (2. E. 14th Ave, Denver, CO 80203). The exhibit is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no charge for admission.
“We are honored to have this exhibit displayed in the Colorado Supreme Court Courtroom,” Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Nancy Rice said. “I invite everyone to come and learn more about how this important document helped set the foundation for our modern-day justice system.”
The exhibit, featuring images of objects from Library of Congress collections, an interpretive video, and other materials illustrating the Magna Carta’s influence throughout the centuries and how it came to be recognized as the foundation of modern democracy, gives visitors the chance to learn more about the document’s enduring legacy.
The exhibit is sponsored by the American Bar Association, Library of Congress, Law Library of Congress, State of Colorado Supreme Court, University of Denver Sturm College of Law and the law firm of Holland & Hart LLP.
