Colorado Supreme Court announces July 2021 bar exam to be administered remotely

Wednesday, March 10, 2021

DENVER – In light of continuing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic for large-event logistics and Colorado’s recent positive experience with a remotely administered bar examination, the Colorado Supreme Court has decided that the July 2021 Colorado Bar Examination will be held remotely.

In February 2021, the National Conference of Bar Examiners for the first time made available a full set of Uniform Bar Exam materials for a remote bar examination. The February exam was successfully administered remotely to more than 300 applicants seeking licensure in Colorado, as well as thousands of other applicants in other states.

The bar exam is offered twice a year, and Colorado’s July administration typically has more than 700 applicants. The next Colorado Bar Examination will be held July 27-28, 2021.  By holding the examination remotely, bar applicants will be able to take both days of the exam online through a computer with video capability and internet connectivity.

Colorado joins 13 other jurisdictions to date that have announced remote administration of the July 2021 exam. Guidance about the remote examination may be found at http://coloradosupremecourt.com/Future%20Lawyers/BarExamination.asp.
