Application period opens for Judicial Nominating Commission positions

DENVER – Applications are now being accepted for upcoming vacancies on five Judicial District Nominating Commissions and on the Supreme Court Nominating Commission.

As of Dec. 31, 2014, there will be nine vacancies as detailed below. Judicial nominating commissioners are volunteers and serve six-year terms, interviewing applicants for judicial vacancies and nominating candidates to the governor.

The Supreme Court Nominating Commission, which nominates candidates for the Colorado Supreme Court and Colorado Court of Appeals, will have one vacancy. Applicants must be attorneys who reside in the Second Congressional District.

The 11th Judicial District (Chaffee, Custer, Fremont and Park counties) will have three vacancies, two for attorneys and one for a non-attorney. No more than two appointees may be registered as Democrats.

The 14th Judicial District (Grand, Moffat and Routt counties) will have one vacancy for a non-attorney.

The 15th Judicial District (Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa and Prowers counties), will have one vacancy for a non-attorney.

The 20th Judicial District (Boulder County) will have vacancies for two attorneys, only one of whom may be registered as a Republican.

The 22nd Judicial District (Dolores and Montezuma counties) will have one vacancy for a non-attorney who may not be a registered Republican.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2014. Applications may be made only online at the State of Colorado Boards and Commissions Application page at https://www.tfaforms.com/290254. Applicants should include a current resume or biography where indicated on the application.
