In addition to FREE educational sessions listed below, participants will be able to complete requirements for their divorce with children and custody cases by attending a FREE Medation Session and a FREE Parenting Class Session. There is limited availability for the Parenting Class and Mediation Sessions and pre-registration is required, so please reach out to your Family Court Facilitator or call (720) 865-8440 to register.

Educational Sessions being offered:

  • Session 1 – 9:00am-10:00am
    • Small Claims
      • Learn how to plan, file, and take your small claims case to trial (for claims under $7,500).
  • Session 2 – 10:00am-11:00am
    • Name and Gender Marker Changes
      • Learn how to legally change your name or gender marker.
    • Power of Attorney/Living Will Informational Presentation by Metro Volunteer Lawyers
      • Learn about what Powers of Attorney and Living Wills are and how to choose someone to make medical and financial decisions for you in case you are ever unable to do so in the future.
  • Session 3 – 11:00am-12:00pm
    • Estate Planning 101
      • Tips and tricks for simple estate planning, drafting a will, and possible results of death without a will.
  • Session 4 – 1:15pm-2:00pm
    • Now You Have a Child Support Order – What Next? / Introduction to Human Services Navigator
      • How to collect, enforce, and modify a child support order, and a question and answer session with a Human Services Navigator with a summary of services provided (it’s more than you think!).
  • Session 5 – 2:00pm-3:00pm
    • Landlord & Tenant Rights and Obligations
      • Learn what landlords and tenant can and cannot do.

Forms for use in DENVER ONLY


The Denver District Court Pro Se Center helps with the following case types:

  • Domestic Cases (divorce, legal separation, invalidity/annulment, custody), and
  • Civil Petitions to Seal Criminal Records/Convictions.


To begin a divorce, the following forms are required (instructions can be found here):

  • Case Information Sheet – JDF 1000,
  • Petition for Dissolution of Marriage – JDF 1101, and
  • Summons for Dissolution of Marriage – JDF 1102.

            **More forms will be required after beginning your divorce case.**


To begin a custody case, the following forms are required (instructions can be found here):

  • Case Information Sheet – JDF 1000,
  • Petition for Allocation of Parental Responsibilities – JDF 1413, and
  • Summons for Allocation of Parental Responsibilities – JDF 1414.

            **More forms will be required after beginning your custody case.**

The Pro Se Center also assists litigants with paperwork throughout the life of their domestic case as well as after final orders have been entered. If you have a domestic case in Denver District Court and are unsure about what you can file, have a question about the form(s) you are filling out, or need to gain a general understanding of what options are available to you, please come in to our center, we are happy to help. Please keep in mind however, that the Denver District Pro Se Center DOES NOT provide assistance with civil matters (other than Petitions to Seal Criminal and Conviction Records). Limited information regarding residential foreclosures can be found here. For all other civil matters, you may use the resources available at the Supreme Court Law Library located in the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center at 2 East 14th Avenue, Denver CO.


Free Childcare during Court Business

Court is not a comfortable environment for young children, and therefore are not allowed in the Courtrooms or in the Pro Se Center at Denver District Court.  For your convenience, the Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care Center, located at 520 West Colfax Avenue, Room 1F, Denver, Colorado 80202, provides free childcare for those who have business with Denver District Court, or Denver County Court.  For more information, please click here.
