The application period for the FY17-FY19 contract period (July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019)

is now closed. Should the need arise during the three year contract period in any Judicial District, 

ODR will announce a special supplemental application period. ODR selects contract

mediators through a process of screening applications, and in-person interviews.

The interviews include questions designed to evaluate the applicant’s knowledge

of mediation and mediation role-plays in which applicants demonstrate their

mediation skills.  All neutrals must have experience in

family law issues and working with families in transition as well as be willing to submit to a background check.

Applicants must meet certain minimum qualifications, including 40 hours of mediation

training, experience as a lead mediator in a minimum of 20 cases, mediation

of and substantive knowledge in the subject area in which they are seeking

to provide services.  ODR is is not seeking applications for new contract mediators until March 1, 2019

at which time a detailed annoucement as to the application process as well as applications will be

posted on this website.  Please note:  All neutrals who contract with ODR are independent

contractors and as independent contractors are solely responsible for the

performance of their duties under the contract and for payment of taxes,

payment of insurance, etc.  All applicants understand that prior to engagement

as an independent contractor for ODR the parties will enter into a separate written contract setting

Mediators and other ADR professionals are independent contractors for the

Office of Dispute Resolution are not judicial employees.  Applications for contract

mediators are only accepted during the open application period that takes place every three years 

during the month of March.    Please check the website often.

Internships:
Law Student/ADR Student Internships: ODR has occasional internships for students to assist with administrative issues. All student internship opportunities will be posted on this webpage as the internships become available.

Mediator/ADR Professional Internships: ODR internships are only available for ADR contractors as identified through the ODR Mediator Selection Process.
