Opportunities with ODR

The application period for the FY20-FY23 contract period (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022) is closed.

Applications are accepted online during the open application period.

ODR may announce special supplemental application periods as Judicial District needs arise during

the contract period. The open application period takes place every three years during the month of

March.  Should needs arise during the three-year contract period in any Judicial District, ODR

will announce a special supplemental application period.   ODR selects contract mediators through

a process of screening applications, and in-person interviews.  The interviews include questions

designed to evaluate the applicant’s knowledge of mediation and mediation role-plays during which

applicants demonstrate their mediation skills.  All neutrals must have experience in the substantive

law area in which they seek to mediate and be willing to submit to a judicial department background check.

Applicants must meet certain minimum qualifications, including 40 hours of mediation training, experience

as a lead mediator in a minimum of 20 cases, mediation of and substantive knowledge in the subject

area in which they are seeking to provide services.  ODR will accept applications for new contract mediators

in March 1, 2022 unless there is a special annoucement of openings which will be posted on this website.

Please note:  All neutrals who contract with ODR are independent contractors and as independent

contractors are solely responsible for the performance of their duties under the contract and

for payment of taxes, malpractice and other insurance, office space and supplies, etc.  All applicants

understand that prior to engagement as an independent contractor for ODR the parties will enter

into a separate written contract setting forth the duties and responsibilities of the parties.
