The Ouray Combined Court is located in the historic Ouray County Courthouse on the southeast corner of 4th Street and 6th Avenue in Ouray, Colorado. The County Judge and two clerks are employed in this location, with County Court held weekly. There are also several District Court judges and clerks who travel to Ouray to conduct proceedings as scheduled. Also located in or near the courthouse is the county treasurer, assessor, sheriff, social services, and the clerk and recorder.
Be sure to take a few moments to tour the rest of this beautiful building, which has currently undergone historic renovation. You may even recognize the courtroom in which scenes from the John Wayne movie, "True Grit", were filmed. The courtroom is located at the top of the front stairway near the main entrance to the courthouse.
While in Ouray, also known as the "Switzerland of America", take advantage of the many interesting sights to see and things to do. Enjoy the shops, galleries and restaurants, or soak in the hot springs pool after a day of hiking, jeeping, ice climbing, or skiing in the mountainous terrain surrounding the town.
