Judge Blum was appointed to the Boulder County Court bench in July, 2003. Prior to his judicial appointment, Judge Blum served for 19 years as a Deputy District Attorney for the First Judicial District (Jefferson & Gilpin Counties). He received his law degree from the University of Colorado and his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont.

As a judge in county court, Judge Blum handles a high volume of misdemeanor and traffic cases, including Domestic Violence and DUI; preliminary matters on felony cases; civil protection orders; and civil cases in which the amount in dispute does not exceed $15,000.
