Born and raised in New York City, David A. Gilbert attended Queens College (City University of New York) and received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Denver School of Law. He was admitted to practice in Colorado and Federal District Court. After working as a private practitioner for two years in the area of real estate, personal injury, corporate law, and employment law, Gilbert joined the District Attorney's Office of the 4th Judicial District in Colorado Springs as a Deputy District Attorney in August of 1986. In that office he later served as Chief Trial Deputy District Attorney responsible for the management of the criminal division and the homicide prosecution unit.
Gilbert was appointed by Gov. Bill Owens to begin serving as a District Court Judge in July of 2001.
