Notice Regarding COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) and Jury Operations:

The courts of the 8th Judicial District understand people may be concerned for their personal safety during this time, the 8th Judicial District has implemented safety precautions, including requiring the wearing of masks with limited exceptions and cleaning and disinfecting of public areas.  Effective May 24, 2021, the 8th Judicial District has eliminated the social distancing requirement.  This change was made pursuant to statewide guidance, and with the approval of the Health Departments from Larimer and Jackson Counties.   The 8th Judicial District is fully committed to juror safety and comfort during juror service.

Persons who meet any of the below criteria are prohibited from entering any courthouse in the 8th Judicial District and instead should call the Jury Commissioner to request to postpone your jury service:

  • Anyone who has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher; or

  • Anyone who has been diagnosed whith COVID-19 and who has not received a subsequent test confirming that the person is currently virus-free unless the individual has quarantined or isolated for ten days and is no longer exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19; or

  • Anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and who has not quarantined or isolated for ten days; or

  • Anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and has isolated or quarantined for ten days or longer but is still exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 that are not improving; or

  • Anyone who is not fully vaccinated and who has been in direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days; or

  • Anyone who is fully vaccinated and who has been in direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days and is exhibiting symptoms.

If any of the above criteria are true for you, do not come to the courthouse. Please notify the Jury Commissioner at 970-494-3555 or by email at prior to your scheduled reporting date and your jury service will be postponed.

  •  Are you a high-risk individual as defined by the CDC? This may also include an individual living in the same household with a high-risk individual. If so, and you would like to have your jury service postponed, contact the Jury Commissioner at 970-494-3555 or by email at

All jurors will be required to wear a mask in the courthouse. Please bring one with you. If you are unable to bring your own mask, one will be provided for you. Additionally, jurors who report for jury service should take steps to protect themselves by frequent cleaning their hands and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. You will be permitted to bring your own bottle of hand sanitizer, wipes, gloves and writing implements.

Note: All requests for postponement or disqualification must be submitted no later than NOON on Wednesday the week PRIOR to your appearance.


Due to the Court’s schedule no jury trials are scheduled for the dates listed below, If you are requesting to change your date we are unable to schedule an appearance on the dates listed below.   To request a different date for your jury appearance click on the POSTPONEMENT TAB  above.

List of Prohibited Items

The following items are prohibited inside the Justice Center and are subject to seizure.

  • Any form of firearm, ammunition or simulated “toy” weapon.
  • Any form of knife, sharpened object, razor blades, box cutters, scissors, large handled combs, large pointed objects, knitting needles, nail clippers and metal eating utensils.
  • Any form of an electronic tasing or stunning device.
  • Any form of pepper spray or chemical/aerosol irritant.
  • Any form of tool, large flashlight or multi-tool device.
  • Any form of restraining device, including handcuff keys.
  • Any form of baton, club or self defense weapon.
  • Any form of an alcoholic beverage.
  • Any illegal drug or drug paraphernalia.
  • Marijuana, medicinal or otherwise including paraphernalia.
  • Any form of metal drink containers.

Please allow up to 15 minutes to process through security screening.

The Justice Center is located at 201 Laporte. It is on the south side of Laporte between Mason and Howes. Parking is available at the Civic Center Parking Structure located directly east of the Justice Center at 120 N Mason. Park on any level. Cost for parking is $1.00 per hour, with the 1st hour free. You must prepay at a paystation in the parking structure. All day parking is available on the city streets west of the Justice Center on Laporte Ave., Meldrum and Maple. Do not park in a 2 hour parking zone. You will be here longer than 2 hours without a chance to move your car. Parking longer than 2 hours in a 2 hour zone can result in a parking ticket.The lot in front of the Justice Center off of Howes Street is 2 hour parking, DO NOT park in that lot unless you have a handicap plate or hang tag.  If you have a handicap plate or hang tag the 2 hour limit will not be enforced in the Howes Street lot and you can park in any space if the handicap spaces are full.
