BRIEFING SCHEDULE CHART
FOR PARTIES APPEALING DECISIONS OF THE TITLE BOARD
TO THE COLORADO SUPREME COURT
IN THE 2016 ELECTION CYCLE
Due to the short timelines involved in the title-setting process, the court employs an abbreviated, simultaneous briefing schedule, deadlines for which depend on when the Petition for Review of Final Action of Ballot Title Setting Board is filed. There will be no oral argument unless ordered by the court. Because of the short timelines involved in Title Board appeals, motions for extensions of time will rarely if ever be granted.
|Date petition for review filed||Date simultaneous opening briefs due||Date simultaneous answer briefs due|
|On or before Wednesday, April 20, 2016||20 days after petition for review is filed||20 days after last timely opening brief is filed|
|Between Thursday, April 21, and Friday, May 6, 2016||14 days after petition for review is filed||14 days after last timely opening brief is filed|
|On or after Monday, May 9, 2016||5 days after petition for review is filed||5 days after last timely opening brief is filed|
Once all of the briefs in the appeal have been filed, the case is distributed to the Justices for their consideration at the next conference, which generally falls on a Thursday. The case is then disposed of promptly.
