We are taking necessary steps to maintain social distancing during jury trials.  Please be aware that this will slow down check-in and the selection process.  Please bring your own mask, paper, pen/pencil with you when you report.  You may bring closeable water and reading material, but no electronic equipment.  Please leave your cell phone in your car.

Pursuant to Administrative Order 2021-B, vulnerable individuals or anyone living with a vulnerable individual are not required to enter the courthouse and can be released from jury service by the jury commissioner.  The Centers for Disease Control define a “vulnerable individual” as:

Individuals who are 65 years old or older;

Individuals with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma;

Individuals who have serious heart conditions;

Individuals current suffering from cancer;

Individuals who are immunocompromised;

Individuals who are pregnant;

Individuals who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility;

Individuals with severe obesity (body mass index of 30 or higher);

Individuals with diabetes;

Individuals with chronic kidney disease;

Individuals with liver disease;

Individuals with sickle cell disease;

Individuals who are current or former tobacco smokers;

Individuals determined to be high risk by a licensed healthcare provider; and

Persons caring for a “vulnerable individual.”

Anyone summoned for jury service in Sedgwick County who meets any of these criteria should not report for jury service.  Instead, please email the Jury Commissioner or contact the jury commissioner, at 970-474-3627, for a disqualification from jury service.
