Salary: $18.46-$21.98/hourly

Definition of Work:

Performs a variety of criminal justice duties related to interviewing, assessing, monitoring and control of adult offenders in community-based, residential and non-residential Community Corrections Programs, including, Day Reporting Program, Pretrial Services, Diversion, Useful Public Service, Electronic Monitoring and Intensive Residential Treatment Center.  Provides crisis intervention and redirects behavior using behavior modification techniques and skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Performs work in the reception area of the residential facility, providing positive customer service to both clients and community members, as well as maintaining facility and staff security. Collects, deciphers, and enters data utilizing multiple computer programs.

Responds to client problems and/or inappropriate behavior; provides guidance to clients to influence behavior modification, stemming from evidence-based practices and skills; mediates disputes; explores problem-solving techniques; performs crisis intervention as appropriate, as well as motivational interviewing. Assesses clients and makes appropriate referrals to various community agencies for services.

Provides supervision and monitoring of Division of Youth Corrections, Probation and Parole Offenders, ensuring compliance with supervision plans, program regulations, and parole or probation conditions in either a residential setting or while the client is living in the community.

Monitors a residential community corrections facility, which is open 24 hours per day, ensuring the security, safety and well-being of the public, staff and clients by direct observation, use of video surveillance and monitoring alarms.

Will closely monitor clients in the community to ensure compliance with program and court requirements by using electronic (Global Positioning Satellite Systems) monitoring.

Administers drug and alcohol testing and collects urinalysis samples for testing following evidence collection procedures. 

Initiates random and regular monitoring of clients; performs head counts and security rounds; supervises client behavior and activities; checks clients in and out of the facility. Conducts on-site employment and home visits. Responds to client incidents, crisis and violations in the field, and coordinates law enforcement assistance.

Provides client transportation to employment, counseling and medical appointments. Provides medication monitoring and collects money for deposit into client accounts.

In accordance with the Division of Criminal Justice Standards conducts pass, job, and authorized activity verifications; conducts home searches, client searches, vehicle searches and room searches; verifies employment search for unemployed clients. Will also transport clients from various correctional facilities, including to/from the local detention facility.

Responsible for writing incident reports, application referrals, resident intakes and other administrative paperwork as required; May testify in court, probation hearings or parole board hearings.

Teaches cognitive problem solving skills in a group setting and intervenes in conflicts or problems that may arise. May be required to restrain hostile or chemically affected individuals and transport them to appropriate facilities.

Collects fees and payments through various methods, including cash; provides receipts and secures such in accordance with approved financial procedures. Uses various computer applications and documents and enters data to record information.

Work involves shift work other than regular business hours including weekends, evenings and holidays, and rotating.

Oral and written communications must be clear, effective and professional.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimal Educational / Professional Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by training programs in the area of assignment.  

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

CPR certification and Basic First Aid Certification (can be obtained after hire)

CPI (Crisis Prevention) Certification (can be obtained after hire)

CIT (Crisis Intervention) Certification (can be obtained after hire)

Motivational Interviewing Skills (101 and 102 preferred)

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds.

Occasional exposure of work time to hazardous situations which involve physically violent persons, interviewing mentally or emotionally disturbed persons or bodily injury from biohazards, infections, or blood-borne pathogens. Intervening with intoxicated or aggressive individuals using crisis intervention skills.

One of Colorado's first Community Corrections Programs. State funded specialized services for Intensive Inpatient Treatment, Sex Offender Supervision, and Dual Diagnosed Programs.

Substantial amount of paid time off earned per month initially starting at 15.58 hours per month. Required to take a minimum of a two week vacation and one week vacation each year until the 5th year of employment. After the 5th year of employment, required weeks of paid time off increases. Employees are encouraged to use more paid time off than the minimum. 

Shift differential offered for swing and overnight shifts.
