The United States Probation Office for the District of Colorado is accepting applications for the position of Data Quality Analyst. The U.S. Probation Office for the District of Colorado includes four offices: Denver (headquarters), Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and Durango.

This position is in the U.S. Probation Office in downtown Denver, Colorado, and oversees data quality for the district. It is the point of contact for senior management and officers seeking information, in person or via telephone, regarding the court unit’s case information database. Data Quality Analysts provide quality for all electronic entries.  The salary range for this position is $44,921.00 - $80,404.00.

Position Purpose and Objectives:

These representative duties are intended to provide generalized examples of duties and responsibilities that may be performed by the position, but this list is not intended to reflect all duties that may be performed:

Maintains accuracy and completeness of automated case records in PACTS (Probation Automated Case Tracking System) database from opening to final disposition. Including verification of case openings and closings.

Identifies data entry errors and deficiencies to ensure data quality.

Performs corrective actions to ensure the accuracy of data, files, and records. Generates deadlines and deficiency notices for missing documents and entries.

Works with users to explain the causes of data entry errors and actions necessary to prevent reoccurrence. Reviews release notes and documentation with each new release of PACTS.

Identifies potential training issues and identifies impact of procedures and suggests recommendations as warranted to ensure continuous improvement.

Researches, identifies, and corrects data issues within PACTS, with emphasis on issues that impact credit on the national workload formula.

Ensures all district data that impacts the workload formula and the budget is accurate. Prepares and submits data extraction monthly or as required.

Develops and revises procedures for data entry and trains administrative staff on data entry.

Develops and delivers training for officers regarding effective data entry, error prevention, corrective procedures, and how to use the system to better manage their caseload.

Primary trainer in agency on PACTS systems and PACTS data entry.

Responsible for maintaining the Probation Office’s intranet site.

Identifies, modifies, generates and/or writes custom database reports using existing programs such as SAP Business Objects or SQL (Structural Query Language), extracts data, and analyzes said data to provide statistical reports.

Develops and modifies reports as requested by management and staff.

Researches and recommends improvement for technical and operational processes and makes recommendations to executive and senior management.

Provides oversight of vendor information contracts, purchase orders, and billing details entered into PACTS. Performs additional and related duties as required.

For placement as a CL 25, the applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of general experience plus two years of specialized experience.

Minimum Education/Professional Qualifications:

Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills need to perform the duties of the position.

Educational Substitution: Education above the high school level may be substituted for required general experience based on one academic year equals one-year of general experience.

Specialized Knowledge:

Progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for data entry or report generation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to analyze and interpret data for review by senior and executive management.

Ability to custom design and extract reports that provide alerts and trends without being prompted. Proven experience in SQL (Structured Query Language), SAP Business Objects or related programs.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including preparation of statistical tables, charts, and graphic displays. Experience using US Probation and Pretrial Services data systems.

Strong customer service experience as it relates to the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involved the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software for data entry or report generation.

Previous experience providing clerical or administrative support within the legal field.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products and other software applications.

Preference may also be given to those who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree or certification in a related field.
