The Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is a nonprofit organization contributing to the safety of youth, families, and the communities of Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties through early intervention, comprehensive assessment and improved access to appropriate services. The JAC’s Community Assessment Program (CAP) provides sustainable community and family connections as an intervention for school-aged youth exhibiting concerning behavior. CAP Behavioral Health Clinicians work with multiple partners to identify root causes of behavior in youth and serve, in collaboration with professionals, as a guide to connect families to effective community-based services. The salary range for this position is $43,500 - $50,000 per year.


Definition of Work:

As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will utilize a strengths-based approach to assessment to identify concerning behaviors and their underlying factors. As a clinician, you will conduct mental health, substance use, and trauma screenings to inform your recommendation of supportive services or practices to address identified concerns. You will prepare a summary of youth and parent concerns, screening and assessment results, and recommendations for the referring professional. As a behavioral health clinician, you will also assist in the coordination of systems of care for youth involved in juvenile justice and/or human service systems. In addition to conducting early intervention assessments, you will provide professionals with information regarding youth behavioral health issues and resources available in their community. You will also likely work in collaboration with school professionals to develop strategies to meet the needs of students and families in their district. As a clinician, you will present on the initiative at resource fairs, parent coffees, parent/teacher conferences and other identified community events. Please note, this position will be based in north Aurora and will be conducting assessments for those specifically referred through Aurora Municipal Court. 

 

Skills and Competencies:

• Bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Spanish highly preferred

• Excellent interpersonal skills; including above average oral and written communication skills a must

• Knowledge of and experience in the mental health and substance use treatment systems preferred

• Understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices preferred

• Knowledge on the developmental phases of child and youth preferred

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree required. Licensure preferred. Must be able to obtain licensure within 12 months and register with required agencies to bill Medicaid.

• Must pass a Background check. Required background check includes a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).

• Must pass a drug screen.

• Bilingual candidates must be fluent in both Spanish and English and have demonstrated ability to translate written documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $43,500-$50,000 depending on licensure status. Bilingual staff receive an annual stipend of $650. This is a full time, exempt position that may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours. Requires flexibility to attend monthly meetings and training as needed.
