General Statement Of Duties:
Provides accounting work involving the application of bookkeeping principles in the maintenance of fiscal accounts, journals, ledgers and other financial records and reports.
Distinguishing Factors:
Positions in this classification are distinguished from other classifications by performing bookkeeping and maintenance of fiscal accounts, journals, ledgers and other financial records and reports for a Judicial District.
Essential Functions Of the Position:
Maintains and balances accounting ledgers; prepares monthly fiscal summaries and other accounting reports; devises record keeping procedures in accordance with legal, fiscal and departmental regulations.
 
Resolves difficult and technical financial problems.
 
Distributes bonds, restitution payments, and overpayments.
 
Maintains financial records for audit purposes.
 
Provides financial accounting information to the public, banks, and employees of the court and related agencies.
 
May require occasional travel.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Responsible for one's own work product and may provide guidance, assistance, or mentorship to less knowledgeable or experienced coworkers.  This includes scheduling of work, instructing in work methods, and reviewing work products, consuming less than 50% of the employee’s time.
Minimum Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
 
OR
 
Graduation from high school or equivalent and completion of nine semester hours of accounting or bookkeeping from an accredited college or university.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk.  The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
