This list may not be an all-inclusive list of requirements you may need for small claims court in your location. You may wish to contact the court you plan to file in to make sure you have all the information you need.
Interpreter Information
Interpreters services are provided by the court for all parties in small claims cases. Please notify the court as soon as possible if you require the services of an interpreter for your hearing, or contact the Managing Interpreter in the district in which your case was filed.

Small claims trials are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month at 8:30 a.m. Be at least fifteen minutes early to get through security and be on time to court. Being late may result in a dismissal or a default judgment being entered against you. All parties will be ordered to mediate on the trial date. Volunteer attorneys will be present to act as mediators. If a case is not resolved through mediation, a trial will be held. Parties are expected to be prepared to present evidence through testimony of themselves, witnesses, or documentation to support their claim or defense. All parties must read the “small claims handbook” that can be accessed via the link above to ensure they understand how to prepare and present their case. Requests for a continuance must be in writing and filed before the trial date. All correspondence to the Court must be copied to the other party and the moving party shall certify that they have done so on the face of the correspondence. Failure to appear to court on time on the appropriate date may result in a default judgment or a dismissal of the claim absent a showing of good cause. |

Small claims cases may be filed in Larimer County at either the Larimer County Justice Center, at 201 LaPorte Avenue, Fort Collins, CO 80521, or the Loveland Police and Courts Building, at 810 East 10th Street, Loveland, CO 80537. Filed cases are assigned to all five 8th Judicial District County Court Judges on a rotating basis. In most cases hearing dates and times are set at the time of filing.
