Law School for Journalists
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
8:30–10 a.m.
1900 Grant Street, 9th floor, Denver

Topic: Water Law: The Basics & Beyond

Presenters:
Justice Gregory Hobbs, Colorado Supreme Court
Taylor Hawes, Colorado River Water Conservation District
William Paddock, Carlson Hammond & Paddock LLC
Ken Knox, chief deputy state engineer, Colorado Division of Water Resources
Michael Valdez, director of legislative relations, Colorado Bar Association

Agenda:
8:30–9:45 a.m. Colorado has 165 times as many residents today as it had in 1861, but no more water than it had in those early days of settlement — and much of it must be shared with residents of other states. Meanwhile, new uses and priorities for water allocation continue to emerge, creating ever more intricate legal processes for sharing this limited and most vital resource.
9:45–10 a.m. Questions and answers
