5th Judicial District offers assistance in family law

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

EAGLE, Colo. – People representing themselves in court matters involving family law will have the opportunity to gain assistance in several areas during an event on Thursday, Feb. 19.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., attorneys and court staff will offer help to self-represented litigants at the Eagle County Justice Center.  Also that day, a parenting class to fulfill requirements in domestic-relations cases is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the event, child development professionals will be available to help create parenting plans. Mediation services and legal aid services, including information on financial aid, also will be available.

Attorneys will help with legal questions, and court staff – who by law may not provide legal advice – will provide help in selecting and filling out court forms.

Spanish interpretation will be available.  Self-represented litigants with children are asked to make child-care arrangements; services will not be available to people who bring children to the event.
