Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building grand opening set for Oct. 17

                PUEBLO, Colo. – Break out the ceremonial ribbon cutting scissors. The Colorado Judicial Branch and Pueblo County will formally dedicate the Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building with a grand opening celebration on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at 4 p.m.

                “We have been open for business since August 5, but will be formally dedicating the building on October 17,” said Tenth Judicial District Chief Judge Deborah Eyler. “I encourage everyone in Pueblo County to come out and join us for the celebration.”

                 The Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building, named after recently retired Chief Judge C. Dennis Maes, is Colorado’s newest courthouse. The state-of-the-art five-story courthouse is 170,800 square feet, has 17 courtrooms, chambers for judges and magistrates, jury assembly and deliberation rooms, a first appearance center, clerks and administrative offices, probation department offices, training rooms and holding cells.

                State and county VIPs will join County Commissioner Terry Hart, Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Nancy Rice, Judge Maes, Chief Judge Eyler, State Court Administrator Gerald Marroney, other judicial officers and court staff to cut the ribbon and preside over the grand opening festivities.

                The Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building is located at 501 N. Elizabeth, Pueblo, CO 81003. Media is invited to attend and cameras are welcome.
