Amiel Markenson to be sworn in as new 10th Judicial District judge

PUEBLO, Colo. – Amiel J. Markenson, appointed in June by Gov. Jared Polis to a new District Court judgeship in the 10th Judicial District (Pueblo County), will be sworn in during a ceremony on July 12, 2019, at 4 p.m. in Courtroom 501 of the Pueblo Combined Court at 501 N. Elizabeth Street in Pueblo. Chief Judge Deborah Eyler will preside.

The judgeship was created pursuant to Senate Bill 19-043.

Markenson has served in various positions with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender since 2011, including County Court supervisor and deputy state public defender. Most recently, he has served as lead deputy state public defender.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado in 2005, and his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2010.
