Presentation proposals sought for 2019 Domestic Relations and Probate Best Practice Court Institute

Tuesday, September 18, 2018

DENVER – The planning committee for the 2019 Domestic Relations and Probate Best Practice Court Institute is accepting presentation proposals for various types of sessions and session formats for its June 3-5, 2019, event in Denver.

The committee, co-chaired by Eighth Judicial District Judge Julie Kunce Field and First Judicial District Judge Randall C. Arp, will accept proposals from the bench, bar, mental health community, financial professionals, court personnel, and researchers/educators. Proposals are due Oct. 30, 2018.

The Institute is an annual educational opportunity for judicial officers, self-represented litigant coordinators, family court facilitators, protective proceeding monitors and probate registrars.

The planning committee’s vision for an ideal agenda includes a diversity of presentation tracks, session types, session formats and presenters for attendees with varying levels of experience. Co-presentations pairing a judicial officer with an attorney, mental health professional, financial professional, court personnel, researcher/educator or others are encouraged.

Potential tracks include probate basics, overlap between probate and domestic relations, domestic relations basics, domestic relations advanced topics, focus on self-represented litigant coordinators and/or family court facilitators, and multidisciplinary best practice court teams.

Session types could focus on substantive law, practical or “how-to” considerations, and domestic relations or probate-related social science. Session formats could include audience interaction such as role playing, panels, lectures, point/counterpoint, or round-table discussion.

Presentation proposals should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 30, 2018, at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DR_Probate_Judicial_Institute_2019RFP. For questions, please e-mail Kennetha Julien at kennetha.julien@judicial.state.co.us.
