Application period opens for Judicial Nominating Commission positions

DENVER – Applications are now being accepted for upcoming vacancies on 17 Judicial District Nominating Commissions throughout Colorado. The Supreme Court Nominating Commission does not have any vacancies this year.

As of Dec. 31, 2018, there will be 36 vacancies as detailed below. Judicial nominating commissioners are volunteers and serve six-year terms interviewing applicants for judicial vacancies and nominating candidates to the governor.

The 1st Judicial District (Jefferson & Gilpin Counties) will have one non-attorney vacancy.

The 5th Judicial District (Lake, Eagle, Clear Creek, & Summit Counties) will have one attorney vacancy.

The 6th Judicial District (La Plata, Archuleta, & San Juan Counties) will have four vacancies total; one attorney vacancy and three non-attorney vacancies.

The 7th Judicial District (Delta, Gunnison, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel, & Hinsdale Counties) will have two vacancies total; one attorney vacancy and one non-attorney vacancy.

The 8th Judicial District (Jackson & Larimer Counties) will have two non-attorney vacancies.

The 9th Judicial District (Garfield, Rio Blanco, & Pitkin Counties) will have three non-attorney vacancies.

The 11th Judicial District (Chaffee, Fremont, & Park Counties) will have one non-attorney vacancy.

The 12th Judicial District (Saguache, Mineral, Rio Grande, Alamosa, Conejos, & Costilla Counties) will have three vacancies total; two attorney vacancies and one non-attorney vacancy.

The 13th Judicial District (Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Yuma, Washington, & Kit Carson Counties) will have one attorney vacancy.

The 14th Judicial District (Moffat, Routt, & Grand Counties) will have three non-attorney vacancies.

The 15th Judicial District (Cheyenne, Kiowa, Prowers, & Baca Counties) will have three vacancies total; two non-attorney vacancies and one attorney vacancy.

The 16th Judicial District (Crowley, Otero, & Bent Counties) will have two vacancies total; one attorney vacancy and one non-attorney vacancy.

The 17th Judicial District (Adams County & City and County of Broomfield) will have one non-attorney vacancy.

The 18th Judicial District (Lincoln, Elbert, Douglas, & Arapahoe Counties) will have one attorney vacancy.

The 19th Judicial District (Weld County) will three vacancies total; two non-attorney vacancies and one attorney vacancy.

The 20th Judicial District (Boulder County) will have three vacancies total; two attorney vacancies and one non-attorney vacancy.

The 22nd Judicial District (Montezuma & Dolores Counties) will have two vacancies total; one non-attorney vacancy and one attorney vacancy.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 15, 2018. Applications may be made only online at the State of Colorado Boards and Commissions Application page at https://www.tfaforms.com/290254. Applicants should include a current resume or biography where indicated on the application.
