Friday, September 8, 2017

DENVER – The Colorado Supreme Court announced today that it has ended its nationwide search for Colorado’s next State Court Administrator and has appointed Acting State Court Administrator Christopher T. Ryan to fill the position fulltime. Ryan succeeds the Honorable Gerald A. Marroney, who retired June 30, 2017.

“We are very excited that Chris decided to make this a permanent arrangement after spending some time back at SCAO,” Chief Justice Nancy Rice said, noting that Ryan worked in the State Court Administrator’s Office in the Court Services Division from 1996 to 2001 and in the Financial Services Division from 2005 to 2007.

“Chris’s breadth of knowledge about Colorado Judicial is vast and I am sure his experiences and skills will serve the state well as he leads this office,” Chief Justice Rice said.

Before his brief tenure as Acting State Court Administrator, Ryan was the Clerk of the Colorado Supreme Court and Colorado Court of Appeals from Dec. 3, 2007, to July 1, 2017. Ryan began his career with Colorado Judicial in 1990 in Denver District Court working as a bailiff for the Honorable Connie Peterson.

As State Court Administrator, Ryan will supervise the central office that prepares the  budget; manages fiscal operations and purchasing; and oversees personnel and payroll, as well as computer operations, planning and analysis, internal fiscal and management audits and training for the Judicial Branch. The office also assigns visiting and senior judges as needed.
