Monday, October 24, 2016
GOLDEN, Colo. – People representing themselves in court proceedings in the First Judicial District (Gilpin and Jefferson counties) will have the opportunity to meet for free with an attorney for 15 minutes to discuss their criminal, civil, domestic, or small-claims case.
The Pro Bono Week event, sponsored by the First Judicial District Bar Association, will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, in the atrium of the Jefferson Combined Court building at 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden.
There is no charge to meet with an attorney at the Pro Bono Week Celebration event. Discussions will be confidential.
The event is part of an American Bar Association program to focus the nation's attention on the increased need for pro bono legal services, attorneys volunteering or offering assistance at a reduced rate for the public good.
“Please take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to talk with an attorney about an important legal issue in your life – without cost,” said First Judicial District Judge Ann Gail Meinster. “The First Judicial District joins the American Bar Association in a commitment to offer free legal advice to those members of our community who would otherwise not be able to consult with a lawyer. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.”
