1st Judicial District
Notice Regarding COVID-19 ("Novel Coronavirus")
& Jury Operations:

The 1st Judicial District understands people may have concerns for their personal safety during the current pandemic.  We have implemented a jury trial plan outlined in CJO 2020-16, which has been approved by the Jefferson and Gilpin County Department of Public Health.  Safety precautions, such as social distancing, and rigorous cleaning protocols, are required throughout the courthouse and will remain priorities for the safety of the public, parties, jurors, and staff.

Social Distancing, Masks and Signage

Social distancing is a critical factor to reduce the exposure to, and mitigate the spread of, COVID-19. According to recent health and safety protocols, people must maintain three feet social distancing when conducting in-person proceedings or jury trials.  The Counties and Judicial District will require persons to maintain three feet social distancing throughout the courthouse. All parties are required to wear a mask at all times while in the courthouse per Jefferson County Public Health order.

Signs have been posted throughout the courthouses regarding COVID-19.  Signage includes instructions on entering the courthouse (including not to enter the courthouse if ill), safety precautions such as washing your hands and not touching your face and mouth, where to stand to maintain three feet social distancing, and limiting the number of people in the elevators.
