COVID-19 Information

We understand there is concern about COVID-19 and are proactively managing court operations daily in relation to the spread of COVID-19.  

Persons Who May Not Enter the Justice Center: Persons who meet any of the below criteria are prohibited from entering the justice center and instead should email as soon as possible to reschedule their jury service – even if it is within 5 days of your jury service. DO NOT report for jury service. Please wait for this office to contact you. Once we receive your request, we will advise whether you can be rescheduled or if we will need a doctor’s statement. 

a. Anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and who is not virus-free;

b. Anyone who has been in direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days;

c. Anyone who is experiencing:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

d. Anyone who is experiencing or has been in direct contact with someone who is experiencing flu-like symptoms.


In accordance with Mesa County guidelines, you are free to choose whether to wear a mask or not when reporting for jury service


DISQUALIFICATON INFORMATION: Disqualifications are granted only if you do not meet the qualifications listed on the jury summons.   There are no disqualifications allowed due to employment issues, occupation, school, childcare issues, religious beliefs, or felony convictions. Persons requesting disqualification for any of these reasons will need to appear as summoned and requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis, based on the answers under oath of the individual during the jury selection. 

If you do not meet one of the juror qualifications you can apply for a disqualification. To apply for a disqualification click on the Disqualification tab above.  A doctor's note is required for ALL medical disqualifications. Jurors may have their doctor fax a note directly to this office at 970-549-9647 without filling out the disqualification form. The juror’s name, appearance date and juror number must be legibly printed on the fax. All doctor statements must state the duration of the excuse. Disqualifications must be received 5 BUSINESS days prior to your jury service.
