The Nineteenth Judicial District includes all of Weld County, the third largest county in the State of Colorado. The District covers an area of 3,996 square miles. There are 32 incorporated towns in Weld County that are served by 27 chiefs of police in addition to the Weld County sheriff.
The county seat and principal city, Greeley, contains almost half the county's population. Generally, most of the remaining population resides within a 30-mile radius of Greeley according to county officials. It serves a population of 304,435 as estimated by the State Demographer's Office.
In Fiscal Year 2020 (July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020) there were 36,342 cases filed in the Weld County Combined Courts. That number includes 22,895 cases filed in county court, 13,447 in district court including 258 Water cases.
There are 21 judicial officers in the Nineteenth Judicial District, which includes 11 district court judges, four county court judges, three full-time magistrates, one .60 FTE magistrate, one .33 FTE magistrate, and one water referee.
