GENERAL INFORMATION:

Reporting instructions can be found in the blue box marked, Important - Please Read.

If you received a summons for jury duty it is because your name was selected at random through lists provided by Voter Registration, Department of Motor Vehicles (driver's license or state ID), or the Department of Revenue.

There are no exemptions in Colorado for students, stay at home parents, employment, and there is no upper age limit for jurors.

If you are enrolled in Informed Delivery with USPS and received a notification that your jury summons will be in your mailbox, but have not received it yet, you can find your reporting date in the code directly under the pink box that says, Legal Document - Jury Summons.  The reporting date is the four digits under the "ur" in Jury  You should receive your jury summons approximately two weeks prior to that date.

ON YOUR REPORTING DATE:

You must be prepared to stay until 5:00 p.m. on your appearance date.

Complete your juror questionnaire before you arrive & bring it in to the Jury Assembly Room with you.

If you are chosen as a juror, the trial generally starts as soon as the jurors are selected; in most cases selection is completed on the first day.  We will not know what type trial you are assigned to until you appear.

Please refrain from wearing cologne or perfume to avoid allergic reactions.

Upon entering the El Paso County judicial building you must go through a security screening.  Please leave as much metal at home or in your vehicle as you will be required to empty all of your pockets.  Do not bring metal forks, spoons, knives, mace, weapons, knitting needles or crochet hooks, contraband, fingernail files or clippers, or large safety pins with you.

The line to enter the judicial building may be long so please plan accordingly for the weather (the doors open at 7:30am).

Restrooms are available in the jury assembly room.

There will be additional paperwork to complete when you report; please bring reading glasses with you if necessary.

There will be a waiting period in the jury assembly room; you may bring reading materials, laptops, and cell phones to use before and after the jury orientation.  All electronic devices must be silenced prior to going into a courtroom.

You may bring bottled water, coffee in a container with a lid, snacks - please do not bring nuts to avoid any allergic reactions, and medication (in the original prescription bottle) with you.

Business casual clothing, including jeans, is appropriate.

Standby jurors are not excused from work.  If you are a standby juror and you choose not to report for work, your employer has no obligation to comensate you for your time as you were not required to report to the courthouse prior to the stand-by call.
