El Paso Courthouse Covid-19 Exposure Updates

This page will be updated with the latest information regarding any Covid-19 exposures at the El Paso County courthouse. Dates and locations of areas with confirmed or suspected cases are listed below, along with instructions and resources for those who may have been exposed.

A Covid-19 exposure has impacted the following areas in the El Paso County Courthouse:

·         11/16/20 - Div 1 courtroom (S405) - Party - positive (unconfirmed) - Party self-reported that they had recently tested positive. Low risk of exposure.

·         11/3/20 – S120 – Judicial employee – positive (confirmed) – Low risk of exposure to visitors

·         11/3 – 11/5 – Div 3 courtroom (S406) – EPSO deputy – positive (confirmed) – A deputy that was supporting the State vs. Garcia-Bravo trial has tested positive. Participants present in the courtroom on 11/3 through 11/5 are advised to quarantine for 14-days by El Paso County Public Health.

·         11/3/20 – Div 5 courtroom (S505) – Judicial employee – presumptive positive – Low risk of exposure to participants

·         10/27/20 El Paso Criminal Justice Center (CJC) Outbreak – numerous inmates housed at CJC have tested positive – EPC Public Health advised that all inmates transported to the El Paso County Courthouse for appearances between 10/21 and 10/28 should be considered infected – EPC Public Health determined that the risk to the public and visitors at the courthouse from an inmate is low. Those at higher risk have been notified. EPSO and EPC Public Health are managing contact tracing. People who have questions about their potential exposure or risk associated with the outbreak should contact the EPC Public Health's Communicable Disease program at 719-578-3220.

·         10/26/20 NCS courtroom (S360) – Judicial employee – positive (unconfirmed) – Low risk of exposure to participants – EPC Public Health advises you to observe for symptoms

Unless advised to quarantine, El Paso County Public Health recommends that affected individuals watch for symptoms of COVID-19 and make all efforts to avoid interaction with high-risk populations. If people begin experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, the agency recommends they seek testing. Information about where to get tested may be found at Public Health's website. People who have questions about their potential exposure or risk may contact the agency's Communicable Disease program at 719-578-3220.
