The salary for this position is $60,000 per year, with benefits.

The Office of Colorado’s Child Protection Ombudsman was established to improve the child protection system by serving as a resource to citizens, employing a complaint process for citizens to voice their concerns about child protective services and by making recommendations to the Governor’s Office, Colorado State Legislature and other stakeholders for system improvements.


Position objectives:

The Child Protection Systems Analyst position is two-fold. First, the analyst responds directly to constituents and stakeholders by helping citizens navigate the child protection system and making resource referrals. Second, the analyst examines information obtained in individual case reviews to inform recommendations for larger systems improvement.

Skills:

The Analyst must have a strong understanding of child abuse and neglect prevention, juvenile justice and behavioral health systems. As such, the applicant must have a strong working knowledge of:

  • Child welfare services;
  • Colorado Department of Human Services’ policies and procedures;
  • Colorado Division of Youth Services’ policies and procedures;
  • Behavioral health systems

Minimal Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (minimum requirement)
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience working with public child serving systems including child welfare, Division of Youth Services, and behavioral health systems
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  5. Ability to research and write substantive reports analyzing policy, practice and law

Specialized Knowledge:

  1. Colorado Rules Governing Child Welfare Human Services employees (Volume VII)
  2. Colorado Children’s Code

Preferred qualifications:

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
