Douglas J. Miles is a County Court Judge in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. Judge Miles was appointed to the bench by Governor Bill Ritter on September 13, 2010.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Miles served as the Western Region Attorney Advisor for Aequitas: The Prosecutors’ Resource on Violence Against Women. As an Attorney Advisor, he presented on trial strategy, legal analysis and policy, and ethical issues related to violence against women at the local, state, and national level.
For over 23 years, Judge Miles worked as a prosecutor with the Fourth Judicial District Attorneys Office. As Chief Deputy District Attorney for over fifteen years he managed the County Court Division, the Special Victims Unit, the Economic Crime Unit, and the Juvenile Division. He has argued cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court.
Mr. Miles received his B.A. in Education from the University of Arizona and his JD from the University of Colorado and is a member of the Colorado State Bar.
