Judge Maus was appointed to the District Court in the Criminal Division on October 1, 2002. Prior to his appointment, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney and as a senior litigation attorney with US West. He has been a trial attorney since his admission to the Colorado Bar in 1969.

Judge Maus is currently assigned to hear civil cases along with appeals from municipal and county courts and DMV hearings.
