Judge Hartmann was appointed to the district court in 2003 after 13 years in the District Attorney's Office. His last position was as the Weld County Chief Deputy District Attorney. He obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He was appointed Chief Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial District on July 1, 2009.
