Judge Barton was appointed to the District Court bench in January, 2003. Judge Barton currently hears criminal, domestic relations, civil, and juvenile cases.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Barton served as deputy district attorney in Pueblo and Canon City. He has practiced law in Colorado and Ohio with emphasis in criminal law.

Judge Barton earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and his juris doctorate from Northern Kentucky University.
