Judge Mattoon was admitted to the Colorado bar in 1984. She is also a member of the United States District Court bar and the United States Supreme Court bar. She was appointed to the District Court bench by Governor Owens in 2006. She currently presides over criminal and probate cases in Division F of the Pueblo County District Court.
Judge Mattoon received a B.A. degree in Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a J.D. from the California Western School of Law in San Diego. She began her career as a deputy district attorney in Pueblo, Colorado, where she prosecuted misdemeanor, felony and juvenile cases, including an emphasis on crimes against children. She then entered private practice with the law firm of Petersen & Fonda, P.C. in Pueblo, Colorado. In 2000, Judge Mattoon was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge with the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts and presided over worker’s compensation cases in Pueblo and Colorado Springs until 2006.
