Mr. Clayton holds a BA in History/Political Science from Metropolitan State College and a MSJA in Judicial Administration from the University of Denver, College of Law. He has been the District Administrator of the Seventh Judicial District of Colorado since 1979, and with the Judicial Branch in various other positions in Colorado and Texas since 1973. He also held the position of Chief Probation Officer of the Seventh Judicial District from October, 1994, to September, 1995.
Mr. Clayton is a member of the Colorado Court Managers Association and is past-president of the Colorado Association of Court Employees. Currently, Mr. Clayton is a member of a number of statewide committees including Trial Court Allocation of Resources; Data Integrity and BRIO Management Reporting System.
Mr. Clayton retired from the Colorado Army National Guard after 21 years as an artillery officer. He also spent time overseas on active duty during the early 1970's.
Jim is a member of the Colorado High School Football Officials', Basketball Officials' and Baseball Umpires' Associations. He has been so affiliated since 1972.
