Judge Schum, who resides in Delta County, was appointed as Montrose District Judge. Prior to his appointment to the District bench, he served as a Combined Court Magistrate, beginning in 1996.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Schum practiced law in Delta County. He was also recognized as outstanding employee of the 7th Judicial District.
